What better time to truly cultivate and anchor calm within ourselves, than the transition into the darkest time of the year

Book here

"Rest is a meticulous love practice, and we will be unraveling from our sleep deprivation and socialization around rest for the remainder of our days. This is a blessing. Rest is radical because it disrupts the lie that we are not doing enough. It shouts: ‘No, that is a lie. I am enough. I am worthy now and always because I am here.’”

The Annual Festival of Samhain

The annual festival of Samhain, which falls around October 31st, invites us to this descent into the tranquility of the "underworld." A descent that is just as important as the ascent. A return to the protected womb of the great Earth Mother. A retreat, a letting go, a becoming empty, a surrender, a reduction, a turning inward. An "in to rest."

Samhain heralds the darkest time of the year, until the light is reborn at the winter solstice. It is a time of contemplation and reflection. The sun's energy diminishes, its light fades, and nature settles into a state of rest. When we observe these rhythms of nature around us, we are reminded of the perpetual cycles of life, death, and renewal within ourselves and our lives.

For the Celts, the day began not with dawn, but with sunset; it began with darkness. Light is born from darkness. And this darkness is fertile with all possibilities. It is a sacred space from which new life and new ideas are born. With the gate of Samhain, we enter a phase of slowing down, rest, reflection, and dreams of new beginnings.

Let us consider this festival as an invitation to adjust our pace, become still, and turn our attention inward.

In, to rest.

Resting as a declaration of love to ourselves

Resting is a defense against the illusion that we humans, as cyclical beings, are not part of nature. Just as nature cannot be productive and fertile at all times, neither can we human beings. Resting is a conscious practice, an active choice. What kind of relaxation do you most crave?

  • Mental relaxation, like switching off from mental load, overthinking or having to decide every day what to cook for dinner?

  • Emotional recovery, how to allow yourself to be authentically yourself and express all emotions honestly without having to hide?

  • Sensory relaxation, like turning off social media and letting your eyes rest in nature?

  • Creative relaxation, how to finally paint again, write poems or texts?

  • Spiritual relaxation, such as meditation and deep connection?

  • Social recovery, such as connecting with other people on a deeper level, or time to be alone?

  • Physical relaxation, like stretching in the sauna or moving your body intuitively?

Our "in-to rest" retreat is a powerful invitation to all of this. Rest and relaxation that goes far beyond sleep. And beyond the four cozy days spent together in the Allgäu. We share and experience rest on these seven levels together. We understand that rest has as many facets as we have needs. And that there are practices and rituals that have the power to recharge all these batteries.

We learn to rest in movement and activity. To rest in community. Perhaps even to rest in the stresses of everyday life. To rest within ourselves.

Movement

Somatic Yoga & Movement is a somatic movement approach that teaches us to experience our bodies as a living, creative process. It enables a conscious connection between inner and outer, promotes awareness and healing, and opens a deeper understanding of the present moment. This occurs through breath, sound, yoga postures, and intuitive movement, inspired by non-dualistic tantric philosophy.

Somatic movement is essentially any movement that is unplanned, unguided, and intuitively felt; that arises before we even think about its emergence. And the beautiful thing is: each of us can access it. It becomes even more accessible when we are given the right tools to guide ourselves. And that's what we want to do at our retreat.

Nothing to do; everything to be.

Ritual

We humans have cultivated rituals since the beginning of time, and they continue to be used in our lives today—both in everyday life and in special moments.

We often use rituals to celebrate and acknowledge transitions in our lives—both individually and collectively. Transitions between life stages, developmental stages, seasons, etc.

But what does it take in such a moment to cross the threshold successfully? A grateful letting go of the old. A loving welcoming of the new. A (re)alignment. What am I grateful for? What have I learned? What intentions do I have for this new phase? And also: A conscious awareness of the moment of transition. That promising place in between. Not quite gone, not quite there yet.

The connection to the community through rituals and ceremonies experienced and designed together is of particular value to us. We experience being seen, heard, and felt during our transition.

We will incorporate all of this into our retreat and explore together the power and magic of rituals.

Meet your hosts

  • Leni is a ritual designer, somatic embodiment mentor, and guide who creates spaces where aliveness, authenticity, and belonging can be deeply felt. Her work weaves together ritual, somatics, and community, grounded in heart-centered presence, intuition, and sensory awareness.

She accompanies people with sensitivity and grounded presence on their journey home to themselves – through somatic movement, meditation, ritual, and connection. Her intention is to create spaces of remembrance and recognition; places where everything is welcome, everything belongs, and everything can simply be.

  • Meike is a spaceholder for Embodied Yoga & Somatics, a psychologist, and a systemic coach. Her mission is to create magical spaces where you can connect with yourself, your body, and others.

Her work is informed by the belief that the head (also known as the psyche), the body with all its systems, and the heart represent an inextricably interwoven unity. Psychology merges with mindfulness, movement, embodiment, and intuition.

Thanks to a previous life as a management consultant, she is firmly grounded in reality and at the same time creates plenty of space for the magical and hidden.
